Dan Barash has recently been promoted to Vice President, Product Innovation for Focus Brands. Barash will be responsible for all product innovation, including product development for all three divisions: food service, consumer products and manufacturing. Along with specific product development for each department, he will monitor and report on emerging food trends in both food service and package goods, new packaging technology and new equipment innovation.
Prior to his recent promotion, Barash was with Moe’s since 2004 and made numerous culinary improvements to the menu resulting in increased sales and guest satisfaction. He has created successful limited time offers for the brand including the Southwestern Cobb Salad, Chicken Club Quesadilla and Buffalo Chicken Burrito by incorporating popular, flavorful ingredients. As executive chef, Barash brought an array of expertise to Moe’s Southwest Grill and FOCUS Brands. From menu innovation to sustainable ingredient enhancements, Barash played a critical role in the success of numerous food establishments from fine dining to fast casual.
Additionally, Barash has led the brand’s sustainability efforts, as they relate to the menu, by introducing whole grain tortillas, organic tofu, all natural sour cream, grass-fed steak, grain-fed pork and all natural chicken, to name a few. At the same time, Barash maintains a menu with a variety of low-cal, gluten-free and vegetarian options.
Prior to Moe’s Southwest Grill, Barash worked as partner and executive chef at Roy’s restaurant, a fine-dining establishment that serves Hawaiian fusion cuisine in Dallas, TX where he produced menus daily depending upon the freshness and availability of ingredients. He was also an executive chef at the Capital Grille, an award winning upscale restaurant specializing in steak and seafood.
Dan Barash graduated with a bachelor’s in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University. He currently resides in Atlanta GA with his wife Lauren, their son Danny and golden retriever Sadie.
